Parenting

Parenting, in my estimation, is the most satisfying, rewarding and quite possibly, the most challenging task we can take on as adults. Every family develops their own unique dance when it comes to the job of parenting which is choreographed taking into account the temperaments and dispositions of both children and parents as well as the family structure and dynamics. At the same time there are some developmental issues and emotional/psychological needs that are fairly universal. Discussing your particular family dance in balance with your child’s needs can help to make the parenting journey seem a bit clearer.
I provide parenting support and coaching at various points along the way in the parenting journey, working with parents of young children all the way through the adolescent years. I also have many years of experience working with families who may need support with parenting a young adult “child” while navigating the launch into adulthood.
In addition to providing general parenting support, I am also available to provide parenting coaching specific to the unique needs of families raising children with learning and attention differences.
The transition into parenthood is profoundly life changing and can cause parents to re-evaluate issues related to their own identity either individually or as a couple. This is another area of parenting support that I provide in my practice.
