Addiction &
Recovery
|
I have a rich clinical background in working with individuals and their families facing addiction related issues, including 11 years as an Associate Therapist with The Addictions Institute out of Menlo Park, California and 9 years as a Manager, Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Director at The Women's Recovery Association managing programs and clinicians supporting the unique needs of women and addiction.
It is my belief and experience that, just as our lives follow a developmental cycle, so does addiction and recovery. I work with individuals and their families struggling with addiction related issues in this context. I very much support 12-step work and I work from a family systems perspective. I believe that, if at all possible, it is important for family members to receive support and education around addiction related issues when a loved one is on his or her own path of addiction and recovery. Addiction impacts the entire family and, therfore, family education and involvement supports recovery for all who are involved.
